Well if you want a catalyst, than here it is. I have always used the charts to guide me in my trading but I certainly do not ignore wider macro and fundamental issues. Tuesday's decision by the RBA to leave rates on hold will prove to be short lived I believe but it does provide us with a double whammy- a technical backdrop with an underlying fundamental catalyst. Despite a deadline which the Greek government believes to be amorphous, no decision has yet been made which will ultimately determine whether or not Greece, as the world now knows it, will survive. Greek officials are as far away from a consensus as could be possible; one wry commentator noted that if they can’t even agree on whether or not there is or was a deadline. Read more here.

The US unemployment figures came out last week issued by the Bureau of Labour Statistics, with the media consensus view that they were fairly positive. Negative commentary came in the form that all the improvement was in seasonally adjusted figures, the raw figures showed a deterioration. I go at it a bit harder, this is a bit sugar coated to me. "Ah yes, but the one thing, and only one thing that matters, and that is not mentioned at all, is what happens to the stock market when the Fed officially sets off on a tightening path.
